About
This is the web-page of MAGNHILD EVENSETH DISINGTON. I am a Norwegian textile designer currently living in Denmark. I specialize in aesthetics, tactility and trends. I work on creating new identities and strive to tell stories through my work. As a textile designer I work with a broad range of projects, but my interest always originates with materials and colors and the feeling they create. I love taking pictures, creating moods and experimenting with raw materials in a new context. My best work evolves when I force myself to get that ‘uneasy feeling’, then I know I’m starting to break new ground. I work in calculated waves of chaos and reason. This allows me to both optimize my creativity and analyze the results.
Textile design can sometimes be hard to define. I find that my textile background provides a great advantage in creating sensitive and emotional products in various fields. One of the dimensions that intrigue me is creating objects and materials that span from the delicate and subtle to the shocking and grotesque. This contrast often helps me find a more sophisticated look and peculiar expression. I want the work I create to reflect this contrast and most importantly to evoke thought and opinion. The tools I use include photography, sketching, computer aided design and material construction. This web-page illustrates these methods through a variety of projects.
